I Am Alive!!!

2 min read
Soooooo HI OUT THERE!!!

Wow, it has been over two years since my last journal.... To any of my followers I am soooo very sorry for my lack of activity! :cling:

Life has been crazy and nutty and I haven't had a heck of a lot of time for cosplay, but I finally had another shoot with such wonderful people yesterday and I just felt so insanely HAPPY that it reminded me of the love and joy of cosplay. <3 <3 <3 So I thought I would log in again and say hello to everyone still out there. <3

So big news (from over a year ago. <3 ) is I got a really cool job making costumes for an Entertainment Company in my home town, so that's super awesome!! It takes up a large amount of my time so (as a hilarious twist) I don't always have a lot of time to make my own costumes any more......

But, now that things are a lot more caught up at work, I'm able to look at my long list of cosplays again and able to have a bit more time for all of my lovely friends at :icondragoncitysquad: !!!

So I thought I would stop by and say that I am alive and I'm hoping to put up a few more cosplay pics that I've done. <3

Anyone that wants to see slightly more up to date pictures and progress and maybe just see what's going on in our mini cosplay bubble, I am on Facebook as part of Dragon City Squads' Cosplay page!! <3 Check us out and see what sort of shenanigans we've been up to!

I appreciate each and every one of you guys out there!! <3 <3

Thanks so much to you all!! <3

Wow, two journal entries in one month has got to be like a record for my DeviantArt, guess that means I'm procrastinating a bit more than usual.

So Otafest came and went, I had a blast as always!!! Friday I got to test run my new Tiny Tina cosplay and although there's a few tweaks to do before she's major photoshoot ready, it was a fun start to the con!!
Saturday I decided I would wear Moxxi again and risk the wrath of the quasi grey area 'Cosplay Decency Rule' at Otafest, but I brought purple 'Censor' bandages along for the day just in case I needed them to cover up, but luckily I was all good!!! :w00t: Got a few more pictures and learned a few things about makeup that I hope to implement for the photoshoot next go around, so all in all it was a great success!!
Sunday was a magical adventure with Bunny Link again and I gotta say, of all of the costumes I wore during Ota, THAT one got the most surprising response!! I wore my Bunny Link cosplay at SakuraCon, and maybe it was the time of the year (being Easter Weekend) but not a lot of people actually knew who I was. :( Most people kind of figured I had created the idea and chosen it based on the time of the year, didn't give me much thought or notice, but at Otafest......
People actually knew who I was and I must say, thank you so so so soooooo much to absolutely everyone that called out to me or waved or exclaimed that I was Dark World Link or Bunny Link or you waved and whispered, ANYTHING, you guys seriously, you made my life this con. After SakuraCon and the generally negative or confused response I got to the cosplay, I was under the impression that I was the only one that remembered or loved Link to the Past.... The fact that you guys all remembered and shared your love of the game with me, honestly, you all made this weekend and this cosplay so much more for me. :tighthug:

Went to a few awesome panels, helped (kinda) run a few panels, got a few plans for next year and some awesome new memories and I got to actually sit and talk to thelittlephwuff after both of us kind of knowing eachother but not knowing (and she is FANFREAKINTASTIC, I cannot wait for more chill times!!!) so all in all, waaaaaaaay better than last Otafest and one of the coolest years to date!!

Afterwards a whole pile of us all gathered for a fantabbybabulous dinner at Boston Pizza again (the waiters are all nerds and love cosplayers, so as a group of like, 16 people we get some of the BEST service ever!!!!) and we all kinda sat and had a chat about things to come, cosplays and cons and plans and such. After some serious chats about cosplay and some not so serious chats about Dora the Explorer and lost maps, I became an official member of :icondragoncitysquad: cosplay!!!! :excited:

Although I was a little afraid at first because I feel like sometimes I'm the worst luck for coordinated groups of people (ESPECIALLY cosplay groups) after getting a lot of reassurance from everyone in DCS that I'm not a total spazzy failure (and even when I am they've promised they'll love me anyways :XD: ), I started getting incredibly excited about the chance that they've all offered me. :)

So here I am, :iconnani-mizu:, one of the three newest members to :icondragoncitysquad: and I couldn't be more excited about the years to come surrounded by some of the coolest cosplayers and friends that I've ever met. :tighthug:

You guys are all the best kinds of awesomesauce. :tighthug:

We also just started a Facebook page as well!! So to anyone that gets tired of waiting for me to get my butt in gear and upload stuff here (or any of those times I just kinda... disappear for a bit into the costume closet XD ) if you want up to date pictures and progress and maybe just see what's going on in our mini cosplay bubble, go check it out!!

Well I'm back from the dead again... sort of. XD

I should be back at my sewing machine again, but I realized I kept putting off updating my DA again and again while I sewed. I guess that's how it rolls, I'm always too busy making the costumes to really share them all that often, but eventually I get around to it! Sometimes it's just a... little late.

Well in any event, SakuraCon was a total awesome party adventure with most of the crew of DragonCitySquad! There were so many laughs and so many chill times that this was easily one of the best SakuraCon's I've ever had! There were inappropriate jokes, 'nyeh's and noms, and it was just incredible! From the start of the drive to the drop off afterwards, it was such good times. :tighthug:

Somehow my cosplays came together relatively easy for SakuraCon, which never happens EVER. I should have known it was a sign of stresses to come because only three weeks after SakuraCon was the Calgary Comic Expo.... and for that my cosplays were more than just a little difficult. :faint:

Knowing this I was hoping to start my CCEE cosplays before SakuraCon, but it wasn't enough to keep ahead. :( Merytmut and I had some late nighters and some awesome sewing marathons set to the soundtrack of Scott Pilgrim and we had a lot of awesome bro times while I was losing my mind, so even though I was behind, at least it was with good company. I was doing okay, and then there were a lot of last minute changes that had to be made due to my sewing inabilities, which blew a LOT. Without everyone's help, I'd probably still be working away trying to get everything done. >_<
A very special thank you to DepthCharge7 for styling the Mordecai wig because I was clueless, to misfitghost for doing my Moxxi makeup not once, but twice because again, I was clueless, and a double thank you to Kyouheikutie for helping to finish Two Face and Mordecai by weathering the fabric and burning things, and sacrificing dryers to the cosplay gods, and just honestly helping me so much to make sure my cosplays actually worked for the weekend. :tighthug:
It all worked out in the end, and that was only because of the AMAZING help of everyone at Merytmut's house for pulling together to help me get everything done. :cling: Everyone was so amazing, I couldn't have imagined a better weekend with better friends.

Although SakuraCon was great, CCEE absolutely BLEW IT OUT OF THE WATER by comparison!! The whole weekend was fantastic, the guests were so wonderful and I loved meeting such amazing people and being a part of such amazing things!! I am already on pins and needles for the Edmonton Comic Expo and next years' CCEE. There weren't many things I would have changed, it was just such an awesome weekend. Met Peter Dinklage and Lena Headey and Misha Collins and Nathan Fillion and saw John Barrowman singing about Doctor Who and Jess Harnell again and Dina Meyer and Wil Wheaton and CON BABIES and so much more and there was so much flailing and fangirling, I could have just died. :XD: I will defintely remember this con for years to come, it was such a phenomenal experience..... sometimes there aren't enough words to descibe how awesome it all is. :)

Otafest is coming up insanely fast and I have one more cosplay to get done before it comes and a second one to fix (inner thoughts: GYARGYAMAFLAGYARMABLAAAAAH!!!! ) but everything else is just repeat cosplays. :meow:

My cosplay lineup for Otafest iiiiiiis:

Tiny Tina on Friday, Bunny Link again on Sunday, and I have no idea what I'm going to wear on Saturday!!! :XD:

I was going to wear Tina on Saturday and Sam Winchester on Friday, but I have now learned my Borderlands event is on Friday and not Saturday, so cha, now I'm not too sure what I'm going to do. Meh, I have a pile of cosplays already, I'm sure I'll think of something. :meow:

Well, I gotta get back to it!! Times a wasting and I've got some dynamite to paint!!

I haven't had a journal in months and months, I figure it's about time I should write something.

So it's now a new year since my last journal, I hope everyone had a faaaaabulous New Year!! Since my last journal I have had plenty of amazing photoshoots with amaaaaaazing photographers, pictures that have already been scattered about my gallery with more to come, once I finally narrow down the hundreds of pictures I reeeeeally love and want to upload down to the ones I really really reeeeaally love and want to upload. :giggle: I have a whole disc of fantastic photos that SeyeCo Images took of me during some amazing photoshoots to go through and upload (lol, and if anyone wants to see all of the pictures waaay before I upload anything as well as awesome pics of so many other great cosplayers and friends, check out his Facebook page here -------> (www.facebook.com/pages/SeyeCO-…) he's so amazing and talented) , as well as the yearly wonderful winter shoot with the always fabulous Kyouheikutie to go through and upload as well. So fear not, I will eventually get around to uploading some more of the goodies!!! I've seriously had so much fun at every single shoot I've had with SeyeCo Images and Kyouheikutie, they are both such amazing and wonderful photographers and friends, words cannot describe how truly lucky I feel to know them. :tighthug:

Since my last journal I've also been up to some shenanigans. New con season starting up soon which means some new cosplays coming up.... waaay too fast sometimes it feels like. O.O SakuraCon is closing in, and the pressure is on to get everything perfected and ready to go!! Most of my SakuraCon cosplays are done if not on their final stages, although within a few weeks after is the Calgary Comic Expo (which I might be a liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittle too excited for since Game of Thrones actors are coming *swoon* ) and with it comes a whole new set of costumes in not a heck of a lot of time, so reeeally, I feel like I'm doing about as good as every year.  Late nights and last minute cram sessions on the horizon for me!! :meow:

I am pretty excited about some of the costumes coming out this year, although I don't want to jinx it by spilling the beans and then failing miserably when my costume falls to a thousand pieces the night before the con. XD Soooo, I'll probably debut my SakuraCon lineup in a Deviant Art journal about a week or so before the con, just to make sure I'm finished, prepared, and not totally inaccurate. :meow: I'm hoping everything works out that we've planned! *fingers crossed*

There are some amazing bro times coming in the very near future, and I can't wait for SakuraCon to start!! I know I would absolutely die if it was tomorrow because really, I have a few more days of work left to do before I'm 100% good to go with my costumes, but screw it!! I'm just excited for hang outs with some of the coolest people I've ever met, I can't wait for more laugh attacks and Thrift Shops and dancing like a one man army!! :tighthug:

I seriously cannot wait!!
