Well I'm back from the dead again... sort of. XD
I should be back at my sewing machine again, but I realized I kept putting off updating my DA again and again while I sewed.
I guess that's how it rolls, I'm always too busy making the costumes to really share them all that often, but eventually I get around to it!
Sometimes it's just a... little late.
Well in any event, SakuraCon was a total awesome party adventure with most of the crew of
DragonCitySquad! There were so many laughs and so many chill times that this was easily one of the best SakuraCon's I've ever had!
There were inappropriate jokes, 'nyeh's and noms, and it was just incredible! From the start of the drive to the drop off afterwards, it was such good times.
Somehow my cosplays came together relatively easy for SakuraCon, which never happens EVER. I should have known it was a sign of stresses to come because only three weeks after SakuraCon was the Calgary Comic Expo.... and for that my cosplays were more than just a little difficult.
Knowing this I was hoping to start my CCEE cosplays before SakuraCon, but it wasn't enough to keep ahead.
Merytmut and I had some late nighters and some awesome sewing marathons set to the soundtrack of Scott Pilgrim and we had a lot of awesome bro times while I was losing my mind, so even though I was behind, at least it was with good company.
I was doing okay, and then there were a lot of last minute changes that had to be made due to my sewing inabilities, which blew a LOT. Without everyone's help, I'd probably still be working away trying to get everything done. >_<
A very special thank you to
DepthCharge7 for styling the Mordecai wig because I was clueless, to
misfitghost for doing my Moxxi makeup not once, but twice because again, I was clueless, and a double thank you to
Kyouheikutie for helping to finish Two Face and Mordecai by weathering the fabric and burning things, and sacrificing dryers to the cosplay gods, and just honestly helping me so much to make sure my cosplays actually worked for the weekend.
It all worked out in the end, and that was only because of the AMAZING help of everyone at
Merytmut's house for pulling together to help me get everything done.
Everyone was so amazing, I couldn't have imagined a better weekend with better friends.
Although SakuraCon was great, CCEE absolutely BLEW IT OUT OF THE WATER by comparison!! The whole weekend was fantastic, the guests were so wonderful and I loved meeting such amazing people and being a part of such amazing things!! I am already on pins and needles for the Edmonton Comic Expo and next years' CCEE. There weren't many things I would have changed, it was just such an awesome weekend. Met Peter Dinklage and Lena Headey and Misha Collins and Nathan Fillion and saw John Barrowman singing about Doctor Who and Jess Harnell again and Dina Meyer and Wil Wheaton and CON BABIES and so much more and there was so much flailing and fangirling, I could have just died.
I will defintely remember this con for years to come, it was such a phenomenal experience..... sometimes there aren't enough words to descibe how awesome it all is.
Otafest is coming up insanely fast and I have one more cosplay to get done before it comes and a second one to fix (inner thoughts: GYARGYAMAFLAGYARMABLAAAAAH!!!! ) but everything else is just repeat cosplays.
My cosplay lineup for Otafest iiiiiiis:
Tiny Tina on Friday, Bunny Link again on Sunday, and I have no idea what I'm going to wear on Saturday!!!
I was going to wear Tina on Saturday and Sam Winchester on Friday, but I have now learned my Borderlands event is on Friday and not Saturday, so cha, now I'm not too sure what I'm going to do.
Meh, I have a pile of cosplays already, I'm sure I'll think of something.
Well, I gotta get back to it!! Times a wasting and I've got some dynamite to paint!!
